A Women in Tech lunch wasn’t really about tech. It’s about everything around it.
Yesterday I got together with my Cavallo Technologies Inc. Vancouver team for one, and it was one of the better work days I’ve had in a while.
Monica Zarate , Jinhee Choi, CPA ,Maureen Herbert, Akanksha Sathish, Pranali Khilari, Muniza Hashim, Dhivya Mohan, Suma Anumolu thank you for showing up.
We talked about the challenges of being a woman in tech, the importance of supporting each other, and the underrated skill of just being human first before anything else. But the part I didn’t expect to love so much was the in-between. Getting to know each woman a little better. The small stories. The laughs. The “wait, you do that too?” moments.
I left thinking about how much better a team works when the people on it actually know each other. Not the LinkedIn-bio or a Teams-call version, but a real one. Who you are, what you carry, what makes you laugh. That stuff doesn’t just make the day nicer. It makes the work itself smoother, faster, kinder.
A shoutout to the women who couldn’t be there yesterday too, the moms, the ones juggling a hundred things, and the ones who wanted to come but couldn’t. We missed you and we see you. There are more of us than what fit in this photo, and that’s a really good problem to have.
Proud of this group. Proud of this company for making space for it. And already looking forward to the next one.
