Today, we’re excited to highlight one of our latest innovations in this space: the Digital Twin – Airport Operations Accelerator. This accelerator delivers an end-to-end implementation of a Digital Twin on Databricks, continuously mirroring real-world operational systems using live and historical data. By ingesting and correlating signals such as flight events, baggage movement, equipment telemetry, and passenger flows, the solution provides a living, evolving model of airport operations that stays in sync with reality.

Built entirely on Databricks using the Medallion Architecture, the accelerator leverages Spark Structured Streaming, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog to move seamlessly from raw ingestion to curated, business-ready Digital Twin datasets. The Silver layer enriches and correlates operational data through graph-based modeling, capturing not just assets but their relationships and dependencies, while the Gold layer represents the Digital Twin itself—powering real-time dashboards, operational visibility, alerts, and what-if simulations. Packaged as a Databricks Asset Bundle and deployed via CI/CD with GitHub Actions, the accelerator is fully automated, governed, and production-ready.

By combining observability, simulation, and decision support on a single unified platform, this Digital Twin Accelerator demonstrates how modern Data and AI tooling can transform reactive operations into proactive, data-driven decision-making across airport environments—and beyond.
