The 2025 ACAMS Assembly in Toronto has officially wrapped up!
Beyond the joy of reconnecting with former colleagues Adeline Pouchelon, FIS CFCS Alexander Giemborek, CAMS, CFCS, FIS Nathalie Balbino, Ryan N. and @Le-Quyen Huynh we gained valuable insights on keys themes like:
– Beneficial Ownership Transparency
– Cryptocurrency
– FINTRAC Record Finds
– Private-Public Information Sharing
– And of course… Sanctions, Sanctions, Sanctions!
Although these themes are shaping our daily work, one message truly stood out for me:
1) “Shape the future of the fight against financial crimes to save lives.”
— Kevin Brosseau, Fentanyl Czar, Privy Council Office
Fentanyl kills 20 people every day.
We must act decisively—identify indicators like the importation of fentanyl precursors and dismantle Cartels and super labs before they grow.
2) As the landscape evolves, so must we:
Don’t fall behind—adopt AI.
Be curious—learn about AI.
Don’t be overwhelmed by AI—make sure you have clean and enriched data.
Remember! The fight against financial crime is not just about compliance—it’s about saving lives.
